During the groundbreaking era of the 90′s, New York City’s House of Repz was at the forefront of “Spit crews” who showcased lyrics and delivery. They shared stages with and introduced artist like Eminem, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and many other house hold names in today’s Hip hop scene. It only took one new song to grab the attention of producer Kenny Diaz who at the time was in his initial stages of forming Kings Link Records, NYC.
House of Repz was founded by A.L. (All Lyrics) in 1996 and projects raw talent, hunger and delivery which captures the attention of the Hip hop purest.
H.O.R who started as a crew of individual artist including Colombian born, Brooklyn raised Bateria aka Jedi (Who featured on LL Vol 1, and had two successful underground singles with Ruff Ryders fame DJ Shok and solo single with Brooklyn’s Underground label Headbop music “the Journey” both singles sold nearly 10k vinyl copies).
Ben.Y. Aka FX, of Dominican decent was at times compared to being the “Spanish Nas” in the nyc underground scene. Ben.Y featured on various projects and very well respected among artist of many genres. Ben.Y completed four solo Spanglish songs with the legendary Willie Colon (yet to be released). A.L. (All Lyrics) of Colombian decent best known for his work on Lyricist Lounge album Vol 1, Beatnuts album “The Spot”, Dj Honda’s “On the mic” Shabaam Sahdeeq’s “5 star generals” (feat Eminem), and also featured on the hit single by Yerba Buena called “Guajira”
The crew took a long hiatus starting in 2000 and out of boardem with today’s common sound decided to start working together in the studio again in mid 2006. Kenny Diaz was the original producer for the crew during the 90′s. A.L and Bateria recruited Oktober Zero and Echo1 to form a new supergroup, House of Repz. On a recent NY radio interview A.L commented “The bar is set very high so for someone to spit with us, especially in a group, they have to be on point” Oktober Zero of Puerto Rican decent (best known for 2 for 5 album with Ace Lover) and 3 underground solo albums under his belt, and ECHO1 of Purto Rican decent (graffiti king and master of his emcee craft) both hit past that bar and today form the 5 man emcee dream team.
